Week two.. Oh the struggle..

We have found a great anime program to use! Yay! It's called Synfig Studio and it allows you do many cool features with your drawings.

Thomas and I have learned a lot about it over the past week. The major thing we learned, though, was how to do cut out animation. This is when you individual parts of the character and make them move separately.

Ex: You draw an arm, you can move it around to make it look like it's waving, and the program animates it all for you, you just have to draw the arm.

This is a little thing we put together using cut animation. (If the video doesn't work the first time just re-load the page)

We also came up with our storyline! It is going to be a story of a young teenage girl who is fighting an internal battle against herself. This will be portrayed in the young girls brain. Her brain will be in the shape of  prison cell and she will be shackled to the wall. Monsters will come and fight her and she will fight back and win. With every strike against the monster, the smaller it gets and the more transparent the prison cell will become. Very symbolic, we know we know.

Here are our three main ideas for the monster.

And here is the girl Thomas drew with his amazing drawing skills (I drew that horrible face thing obviously):

  1. Looks good guys!! The story sounds very interesting and insperational. The ideas for the monster look fantastic (and a little on the dark side, which is awesome). I'm looking forward to the combined creative greatness of Thomas and Jasmyn!

  3. I am super exited to see your awesome drawings come to life. The story sounds great. Your monster drawings seem a little complex for your animation program and I can't wait to see how you make it work.
